I NEVER NOTICED THE SHAPE OF THE WIND is a piece that can exist on its own or as a pair with I NEVER NOTICED THE COLOUR OF THE BREEZE.

These two paintings hold a deeply personal place in my heart. They were born from the land I grew up on in Barbados—a landscape so familiar that, over time, I had stopped truly seeing it. You know that feeling, when something becomes so constant that its beauty fades into the background and gratitude quietly slips away.

I made a conscious decision to slow down and look again—to search for the small blessings I had overlooked. In doing so, everything began to shift. I started to notice the depth in the horizon, the temperature in the air, the movement of the wind, the subtle changes in colour, the openness of space, the richness of texture.

This process became more than painting. It became a reminder.

A reminder to be present—not just in the places we inhabit, but in our relationships, our routines, our everyday moments. There is so much beauty waiting to be seen again, so much to be grateful for, if we choose to look.
